A full weekend
Another fine weekend in sunny SoCal started off with free tickets to the Clippers vs. Nuggets game on Friday night. My boss has season tickets, but couldn’t make the game … so knowing that I’m a ‘Denver’ fan thought it would be more fitting for me to enjoy them in his absence! It was the standard Friday afternoon traffic jam getting from Santa Monica into downtown (over an hour for less than 10 miles), but parking was better than expected and the LA Live facility is vary impressive now that it is running in full swing! We made it to Staples center in time for the tip off, but decided to cruise the food vendors in search of something to get us through the game. We found a hot dog stand with foot long ‘Chicago’ dogs (complete with pickle relish, peppers, tomatoes, etc…) which totally hit the spot – then proceeded to enjoy a couple of beers and watch the Clippers dismantle the Nuggets. We only make it to a couple of basketball games a year, so it was fun to see the all star roster on both sides!
Saturday we headed over to Culver City to catch the annual Cat/Griz game at the Los Angeles satellite party. Ran into some old acquaintances, were reminded how much we appreciate not having snow this time of year, and watched yet another losing effort by the Bobcats run the streak up to 4 games straight. It’s hard when you cross state rival is also consistently ranked the #1 team in the country (11-o now), but we cheer our hearts out and try to make up for it.
Kyle and Amanda Vos Strache were in town for the weekend (down from Palo Alto), so Saturday night we got some take out food and went to hang out with them over in the Pacific Palisades. It was nice to relax after the running around of the past night/day and enjoy some good conversation with some friends we don’t get to see that much of. Kyle brought me some new coral for the fish tank (woo hoo!) and we finally rounded up his pair of Picasso Clownfish from the local fish store (they had been on hold there for over a month and half).
Sunday brought the Broncos game (which I’ll skip discussing becuase it causes my blood pressure to spike), needless to say we lost. Sunday night we we went over to Julie & Molly’s house for their 3rd Annual Ice Skating extravaganza. Good food, good friends, and short walk down the the big skating rink in Santa Monica – good times were had by all!
Clinton’s computer is still out of commission, but the new one has been ordered from Dell and we’re told it should be here the first week of December. I’ll try to keep everyone updated with another post after Turkey day!
Until next time, you can check out more ice skating pics in the gallery – here’s a preview:
Till next time~
