Back from NorCal
Took a couple of days to get this post up, but we’re back from NorCal to see Kyle and Amanda VosStrache! We left LA ‘early’ on Friday (4:30pm), sat in traffic for a couple hours, then finally got over the grapevine and kicked the cruise on and made it to Palo Alto shortly after midnight (about 7.5hrs ). Glad to be off the road, Kyle and I spent a couple of hours working on setting up software for the reef tanks then called it a night.
Saturday morning we took a stroll through Menlo Park, grabbed breakfast, then loaded up the car and headed over to Stanford for the tailgate before the UCLA game. Coming into the game UCLA was undefeated in the Pac 10, so this was a must win for Stanford. Some beers, some burgers, some botchiball and then into the game to catch the second half! With Stanford up at the start, UCLA had some work to do. They made a nice little run, but ended up falling short and Stanford got the win.
After the game we headed back to the house to hang out, enjoy a couple more cocktails, BBQ, and the then headed over to the Dutch Goose to catch up with a friend from college and her husband (Ashley and Jeff Johanson).
Sunday was spent making breakfast, watching the Raiders get trounced by Houston, and making an emergency run to Fry’s Electonics for networking hardware (which we never were able to make work unfortunately). The drive home was much quicker, and getting on the road at 2:30pm put us home by 8:00pm (4.5 hrs).
All in all a fine fall road trip to see some good friends, enjoy some football, and soak up scenic NorCal!
